CHRISTOPHE JUVILLE, A RAW PORTRAIT OF A SUCCESSFUL "MARSEILLAIS".
Christophe was only 15 when he decided to leave school and carve his own path. Growing up as an only child in the Félix-Pyat projects in Marseille’s tough northern districts, he had to rely entirely on himself. With sheer determination, he launched his first restaurant, La Girafe, at just 24.
Today, Christophe is the mastermind behind more than forty restaurants, with some of his spots in Marseille and Paris becoming legendary—places like Figure, Ippon, and Lolo.
As for his personality, Christophe is a calm guy with obvious charisma. Talking with him means taking your time. And yet, he has so little of it—he’s always on the go! His high standards and refined taste in cuisine match his love for the finer things in life.
Christophe is also a big reader. He enjoys all kinds of books, except thrillers, and admits he often likes novels "that appeal to women." His favorite? Bonjour Tristesse by Françoise Sagan, a title he’s even got tattooed on his bicep. For him, reading is like food for the soul.
Traveling is another of his passions. Christophe is planning to open more Spok restaurants abroad soon—in Switzerland, Belgium, Luxembourg, and Canada. The idea came from the many pop-up collaborations he’s done with international chefs, where they swap kitchens for a bit—in Turkey, Mexico, Canada, New York...
Christophe has a knack for cutting through the noise and keeping it real. Flashy watches and luxury cars? Not his vibe. He’s also a true lover of the sea, especially the Mediterranean, which is why he’s made his home in Malmousque. Falling asleep to the sound of waves? That’s priceless.
Looking ahead, Christophe is gearing up to open a third Lolo restaurant in 2024, and he’s also planning more chef residencies in some still-secret locations. Stay tuned...
