A " balmacaan" is a loose and generously cut overcoat with raglan sleeves, originally crafted from coarse woolen fabric. Its name is derived from a Scottish estate where the design first emerged. To enhance water resistance, the coat minimizes seams by extending the sleeve to the collar instead of the conventional shoulder placement. Characterized by raglan sleeves and a Prussian collar, the balmacaan is typically fashioned from tweed or gabardine materials.
