COLLABORATION
BRUT x JJJJOUND
Since its inception in 2006 as a digital moodboard, Montreal brand JJJJound quickly became a pillar within the creative community, known for their minimalist approach dedicated to timeless design.
Given that BRUT maintains a vintage archive that regularly acts as a source of inspiration for modern fashion design, it only made sense to create something new together inspired by our shared love of design research and archiving.
The core of this collaboration was based around vintage Swiss workwear denim from the early 1950’s. Mending was carefully executed to preserve the essence of the fabric, conserving the meaningful details that define the denim’s history, utility, and unique blue hues.
The outcome was a collection of 55 one-of-a-kind jackets and hats, handmade in our
Parisian atelier. Approximately three pairs of pants were used for each jacket. The pants
were cut, reassembled, and sewn into JJJJound’s Utility Jacket pattern. The remaining
material was used to make BRUT ‘Bucket Style’ Hats.
A collectible pin featuring an elephant wearing the jacket was created to commemorate the collaboration.
